Virtual Reality
Here are some helpful links to improve the VR experience.
VRPerfKit
https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit/releases
VRPerfKit of fholger can be helpful to increase performance. It supports FFR (Fixed foveated rendering) as well as AMD and Nvidia (NIS) upscaling algorithms. Currently it only supports OpenVR DirectX 11 implementations, of which DCS World is one of them.
Fixed Foveated Rendering will split the rendered image into multiple areas with different resolutions. In the center area the image will be rendered with full resolution, the outer areas will be rendered with a lower resolution.
Depending on the settings, the different areas are not perceptible to the eye. But performance can be significantly improved. (Varies by system, whether game is CPU or GPU limited.)
Installation
- download the latest version (e.g. vrperfkit_v0.3.zip)
- unzip and put both files (dxgi.dll und vrperfkit.yml) into the DCS binary folder (/bin). Next to the dcs.exe
- edit vrperfkit.yml with a text editor of your choice. (e.g. set scaling to 0.9 and if you're using a Nvidia card, swith to NIS algorithm)
- start DCS as usual, no further actions are required
